HTC Croydon is part of the HTC Group of companies, which is privately owned by Ballyvesey Holdings. Ballyvesey Holdings established in 1970 whose main activities are in road transport, trailer manufacturing, vehicle and construction equipment sales and supportive services to the road transport industry.
HTC Croydon & Belvedere and DGC Limited currently trade from its two locations at Beddington Lane, Croydon & Crabtree Manorway North Belvedere. A perfect fit geographically for HTC who also have dealers at Heathrow, Luton, Park Royal, Reading and Oxford, leaving our enlarged company a significant player in the DAF dealer network and one of the largest companies in the Ballyvesey Holdings Group.
HTC began in 1970 under the Vales Group of companies in Watford, Herts. They were one of the first dealers to take on a DAF franchise in the UK. Over the last 38 years our expertise in sales, finance and service has become second to none, as we regard customer satisfaction as our highest priority. All our customers benefit from organisational programmes recognised by ISO 9001 accreditation which manifests itself in fast turn around in our extensive workshop facilities and high stock levels of parts for both DAF and all makes through our TRP parts range.
Our hugely varied customers include smaller fleets run by regional manufacturing and construction companies right up to national logistics operators running mixed fleets and specialist trailers.
As industry changes are driven both by efficiency and environmental issues, Heathrow Truck Centre Ltd. strives to remain at the forefront of dealer performance by undertaking an ongoing training programme, ensuring staff across all departments use the latest facilities at our disposal, and can advise all our customers of the latest advances made by DAF Trucks. HTC Croydon & Belvedere were formally known as well respected DAF dealer Morgan Elliott DAF until the HTC Group purchased the company in September 2010.
Morgan Elliott Limited History
Morgan Elliott Limited was incorporated in August 1975 as a subsidiary of C. Barber and Sons Limited and originally traded under the name of Barber DAF Trucks Limited. When the previous owners completed a Management Buy Out in March 1984 the Company name was changed to Morgan Elliott Limited.
In September 1987 the Company moved to its current head office site in Beddington Lane, Croydon and in December of that year, following the merger of DAF Trucks and Leyland Vehicles, was awarded the Leyland DAF Truck Franchise for South West London and Surrey. This gave the business the opportunity to bring its heavy truck expertise and high level of customer service to the light truck and van markets and to become one of the largest Leyland DAF Truck dealers in the United Kingdom.
In common with many others, our business suffered during the recession of the early 1990's and it was then that we decided to diversify into truck rental and contract hire. In 1991 we formed DGC Limited, as the second trading subsidiary of Morgan Elliott Group Limited. DGC now operates a commercial vehicle rental fleet in excess of 100 vehicles from the two Group locations.
Following the major restructuring of Leyland DAF and LDV in 1993, Morgan Elliott Limited were awarded additional territory for South-East London and Kent and consequently opened a small Parts and Service facility in Crayford in June 1994 whilst we looked for more suitable premises. After much unsuccessful searching we eventually opened our new purpose built facility at Belvedere, Kent in October 1996. This site offers the same comprehensive range of commercial vehicle facilities as our Croydon Head Office: new and used trucks and vans, commercial parts and workshop facilities and truck and van rental services. An extension to the building has been completed which gives an additional 40% workshop floor space, which will allow us to continue to provide the highest level of customer service.
Our parts business was historically based around the supply of genuine Manufacturers’ Parts for DAF trucks and LDV vans. However, as vehicle reliability improved and service intervals lengthened we soon recognised the importance of expanding our parts product range to attack new markets. In 1998 the Group acquired Kent Motor Factors to support the supply of parts for all makes of cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses. This business was originally located in Eltham (South London) but in March 2001, the light and heavy commercial business was integrated into the Morgan Elliott Parts operation at Croydon and Belvedere and today supplies parts for all makes of vans, trucks, buses and trailers as well as workshop equipment and consumables throughout South London, Surrey, Kent and Sussex.
Morgan Elliott Ltd has been awarded the Fiat Professional franchise at both Croydon and Belvedere which compliments the established DAF and LDV business. In order that Morgan Elliott is capable of competing in every sector of the Commercial Vehicle Industry, we took on the Modec Franchise for South London. Modec is an electric truck, and with zero emissions, no operators license, no RFT and exemption from the Congestion Charge, in addition to being attractive to the environmentalists, should have a place in the future of transport in and around our cities.
On the 1st October 2011 Morgan Elliott Limited changed is name to Croydon DAF & Belvedere DAF as part of its full intergration into the HTC Group.
